There are times when a lesion warrants a tissue biopsy; or the lesion is too deep for the laser to effectively treat. Dr. Jane Burk-Vassallo will then excise the lesion and send for pathological analysis.

During your first visit, you will meet with Dr. Jane Burk-Vassallo and a member of the aspireMD skin health care team for a complimentary consultation. After reviewing your medical history, Dr. Burk-Vassallo will assess your current concerns integrating her 20+ year professional expertise to your care. Process
After your initial consultation, when all your questions have been answered and you are comfortable with the treatment plan; your informed consent will be obtained. Expect to have your photograph taken to record your baseline image and celebrate your improvement. Your photographs will be kept with your file with the same strict confidentiality as your medical records.
The area is thoroughly cleansed with antiseptic cleanser. A local anesthetic is then injected to maximize your comfort. Dr. Jane Burk-Vassallo will expertly excise the lesion. Tissue will be sent for analysis. Sutures will close the gap. Arrangements will be made to remove sutures in 5-10 days.
Aftercare
- Patients may resume regular activities following the procedure, as there is no downtime involved in most cases.
- The treated area will be bandaged if required.
- It is important to keep the healing area dry (showering is fine, just pat dry afterwards).
- You will likely have sutures that you will return to aspireMD to remove in 5-10 days depending on their anatomical location.
